Description

This is the latest event by / for / about / with undergraduate and graduate student Mentor Navigators from African Black Caribbean, Latin American, Southeast Asian & First Generation Student Engagement.

A panel Q&A, and student leaders and guests co-facilitating table group discussions, on topics including: self-identifying as Latin American; finding a cultural community; the role of language in building individual and group identities; and work / class / income. These issues were highlighted in the report "X Marks the Spot: Reflecting on the LatinX Student Experience at U of T", co-authored by Dr. Berenice Villagómez, Undergraduate & Communications and Community Outreach Coordinator, Department of Spanish & Portuguese; Latin American students; and the Innovation Hub. Discussions will be followed by a Latin American student clubs fair, and social networking over Latin American food and beverages. This event is a partnership with the University of Toronto Students’ Union, Department of Spanish & Portuguese, Innovation Hub, Centre for Caribbean Studies and participating Latin American student clubs.
